Nova Mackentley is an owl biologist, and this is her 5th year working at Whitefish Point Bird Observatory as owl bander and assistant director. Owls have always fascinated her, and WPBO is quite a special place for many species. Nova has worked at various raptor migration sites over the years, and has also spent time in Texas working with endangered Ocelots (a wild cat). As a field biologist, she finds that this way of life takes her to many amazing places, and it is hard not to pick up a camera. Her photographic skills are being sharpened daily, with many amazing locations to explore throughout the seasons.

A lifelong birder, Chris Neri became particularly fascinated with owls at the age of eight. He has worked with birds of prey in Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Idaho, California, Oregon and his home state of Pennsylvania. Since the spring of 1999 his main focus has been the owl migration at Whitefish Point, where he spends most of the year. This work and his passion for photography have provided him the opportunity to capture images of these beautiful animals. Chris is currently the interim director of Whitefish Point Bird Observatory in addition to owl banding during the spring and summer seasons.
